Once again in remembrance of
John Walker and all that he did for youth sports in Southampton and specifically
for what he did for basketball in the community, the summer/fall league will be
held in his honor. This will be our 14th season. Anyone who has participated
in this league in the past knows that this is a highly competitive league. Last
year, there were over 650 participants.
We plan to have five
divisions again this year for the girls. The first is for girls entering the
fifth and sixth grades (may include inexperienced seventh graders as well). The
second division is for those entering seventh & eighth (may include
inexperienced 9th graders). Third division is 10th, 11th
and 12th . Fourth division is a team division for HS JV consisting
of 9th & 10th and the fifth division is a team division for HS
Varsity made up of 11th & 12th. Again this year we will
have four divisions for the boys. We will have a fifth and sixth grade division,
a seventh and eighth grade division, a ninth and tenth grade division and an
eleventh and twelfth division. Please state what grade your child is entering
in Fall 2008 on registration form.
The registration form
allows for each player to request to play with a few of their friends. All teams
play nine games plus at least one playoff game. Each team will have either ten
or eleven players. Every player must play at least one third of the game. The
League will begin the weekend of 8-22-08. You must check our website on Aug.
21st (rosters and schedules will be posted no later than that date)
to find out when your first game will be. The playoffs should be over by the 2nd
week of November. 5th and 6th grade boys and 7th
and 8th grade boys will play on Friday nights. The 5th
and 6th grade girls (which may include some inexperienced 7th
graders) will play at 7pm on Mondays, the middle school & JV HS girls will play
early afternoon games on Sundays, and the HS girls will play in late afternoon
to early evening on Sundays. HS boys will play on Sunday evenings. Please note
that if the league needs to expand to a third day of games, we are planning on
using Saturdays between 4pm and 9pm. We hope that Monday nights will work
better for the 5th & 6th grade girls’ division. All games
will be played at our facility: Kelly Bolish Gym, 2950 Turnpike Dr., Hatboro,
PA 19040.
Every player will be
required to play in his or her appropriate division. The cost of registration
for 2008 will again be $125.00. Any Renegade player wishing to
participate in the Fall League must re-register with the club for the upcoming
year (2008/2009) at this time by mailing in club registration form and fee.
Non-Renegade players do not have to pay a separate club registration fee.
If a player is capable of playing in the next older division an additional fee
of $100.00 will be required. Please forward a separate check for $100.00 in
case there is no room in the older division you wish to enter. Keep in mind if
you request to play up in an older division, you must also play your own age.
If a player plays in two divisions their primary responsibility is to play in
their appropriate grade division. The fee covers the cost of the gym rental,
tank tops, referee fees, and team awards for 1st and 2nd
place winners. Please make checks payable to Renegades and mail to: 858

League form. You may use the registration form enclosed or print one off of the
website: www.renegadesbasketball.com. Please note that each girls’ team in the
5th & 6th and also the 7th and 8th grade
division will be coached by two current high school players. All high school
girls’ divisions will be coached by non-parent adults. All of the teams in the
boys’ division will be coached by non-parent adults.
It
is very important to fill in your child’s height and basketball experience on
registration form. We must have this info in order
to place your child on a
team. We try to make the level of all of the teams as even as possible so that
the games are competitive.
Any player who does not
play AAU basketball or plays AAU basketball with another club must register
online at: aausports.org. When you register online, you must check off
AB (added benefit) and you will be covered under the AAU supplemental
insurance from 8/16/08 to 8/31/09. This is not going to be available on the
aausports.org website until August 16th. This insurance covers the player
not only for basketball but for any sport that the player participates in during
the entire year and is well worth the $14.00. This AAU insurance does not take
the place of family health care coverage. Every Walker League player must have
their own health care insurance. All Non-Renegades players must present their
AAU insurance membership card prior to playing in their first league game. This
will be strictly enforced due to the liability issues. If you have any
